Wedding Planning Tips From Top Designers

I just read an awesome piece written by newlywed and Marie Claire Senior Fashion Editor Zanna Roberts. In it, she asks some of the most popular fashion and accessory designers in the world to come to the rescue of overwhelmed Bride-to-bes. The outcome – some pretty fabulous tips for anyone planning or attending a wedding this year! Here are some of my absolute faves!

Designer: Georgina Chapman and Keren Craig of Marchesa
“Stay true to your own style. Your dress should be a reflection of your everyday look, just amplified. “

“Avoid selecting your dress too early and trying it on too often. You risk having many changes of heart. Three months is ample. “

“Take the one person whose opinion you value most with you to your fitting. Keep in mind that your best friend or your mother may not be the best choice.”

Designer: Neil Lane, Jeweler
“Remember that something old – like Grandma’s pearls – while sentimental, may not work with our gown”

“Of your wedding jewels, earrings are the most important. Pay close attention to the shape of your face. Art Deco styles complement angular shapes, while flowers are better for round faces.”

Designer: Christian Louboutin, Shoe Designer
“Don’t do white on white-it’s old fashioned. Look for shoes with details, be they studs or pastel hints. You should want to wear the shoes again.”

“Closed-toe shoes are great for solid column dresses, more dainty gowns fall for open-toes.”
